@eris i have participated recently in a conversation about woody tasch's 'call to farms' in the city-tree tel-aviv commune.
tammy, one of the leaders in the commune, spoke about how in her perspective, food security for the commune comes from having strong connections with the farmers who produce the majority of the food they consume.

yesterday i went to the giant #mulberry tree nearby and 3 children were there #UrbanForaging with a sophisticated technique: one was shaking the tree, one was picking up the fallen fruit and one was dipping the mulberries in water and cleaning it off. it was peaceful and efficient. i told them about other #trees in the area and about the online map. i also told the youngest most verbal girl that i won't pick too much so they won't return empty handed and she said there's enough for everyone 🙌

i collected these seeds from the large abandoned field by my house in my chenopodium phase last year. some months passed by, and my gf told me that the owners of the land is the israeli flight industry - the same privatised company in which my grandfather worked, got cancer and died - and that they're going to detoxify the soil. turns out that tons of toxic was spilled there many years ago. so: these seeds could be contaminated.

turns out there was this one woman in my area and she went and added all mulberry trees (but one, which i added) to the fallingfruit.org free map so i went and picked a bunch from the floor... left 99% to the insects, god bless them 🐜🍓🙌🏼

the local mapping project we had for the tel-aviv area has been abandoned since 2016. i see there is a new one at https://fallingfruit.org/ and got 10-15 new entries in today but the interface sucks. tips? ideas?
