Als het tijdperk van de analoge fiets voorbij is, en we meer en meer elektrisch gaan rijden, dan moeten we onze stedelijke, gemeentelijke en landelijke infrastructuur daar dringend op gaan aanpassen.

Die infrastructuur gaat niet enkel om betere fietspaden, maar evenzeer om (vlotte, veilige, toegankelijke,…) laadpunten 🔌 en fietsparkeerplaatsen 🅿️.

Bidirectional bike path first, then two car lanes from the left, next one car lane from the right, and finally a bike lane from the right.

This is not a beg button, the sign explains:
“This push button gives an audible signal for the blind. – The pedestrian lights also work without pressing the push button.”

An omnipresent and confusing example of #PublicTechnology from Flanders, Belgium.

On the left we have an acoustic traffic signal (“rateltikker”) for blind people, with the street layout in relief (two car lanes from the left, then one tram track from the left and one tram track from the right).

On the right we have our classical beg button, to request green 🚦 for pedestrians.

Too many people push the rateltikker to request green, especially when there is no beg button present.
