I love lifepathy things. Started on Central Casting, then later enjoyed simpler takes from some of the R. Talsorian RPGs.

Everything I did in #RisusRPG was kind of half-joking, half-deadly-steeleyed-serious, and 20 years ago the Risus Companion included _my_ take on lifepaths, but specifically "Lifepaths for Gamers Who Already Have a Clear Character Concept and Wants Lifepaths to Just Be One Table." That wasn't the title. 😅 Then #UresiaRPG got one too. Gonna make more. 😀

I really enjoy this version of the Shadow River portrait, despite it missing/obscuring 50% of the work (I mapped as much extramural as intramural ground in the master graphic, including some substantial small settlements totally "in the fog" here). It's definitely a "click to embiggen" dealio.

#UresiaRPG by S. John Ross, all systems library edition. It's an enchanting world, my favorite kind of blend between fantasy and irreverent anachronism, as well as between darkness and light. It's a wonderful play-place.

I'm waiting excitedly for his new world, Hammondal, which from the teasers I've seen continue exactly what I loved of Uresia.

I left the #TTRPG industry 20 years ago because of the horrible experience of Uresia's first edition. I am not enjoying these reminders of how that felt. On the other hand, I wouldn't take it back. The sale of Uresia, Encounter Critical and Risus were all financially necessary to help a loved one. But damn. #UresiaRPG

Just to clarify, for those interested: the new BESM4 map of Uresia to be commissioned by Dyskami has nothing to do with me, and is not based on my own terrain maps used in the development of the setting (Dyskami had no interest in those maps; they wanted previously-published material and production files only, not background dev material). The closest thing they have is the Grandma August map ... so that's 1/8th of Temphis sorted 😅 #UresiaRPG #Dyskami #BESM

The KS that includes the new edition of Uresia is wrapping up and they've unlocked a stretch goal that says some new cartographer will have to invent a detailed map of the islands ... but Dyskami's condition of the sale was that they wanted NONE of my unpublished material. So, I sure hope the new carto pays careful attention to the text; they don't even have my basic terrain maps to go by 😵 #UresiaRPG

I'm not sure if this graphic will appear in the new Uresia. Dyskami does own it now, so they could easily include it, just not sure if they will. The idea is that the Malbarion Orders have this oath which is laudable but also troublesome, a nod to things like Asimov's Three Laws and Star Trek's Prime Directive. #UresiaRPG #TTRPG

Okay, good news on that Uresia concern: Ikaris isn't a racist fantasy world. Its author chimed in to confirm.

I can now return to moping over how awful the new Uresia itself will be, with its wakka-wakka clown-nose graphic design, tone-deaf world changes and tone-deaf-world additions, misused cartography and who knows what other fresh horrors ... Those are all just in the fragments they've shared publicly so far 😰

So here's one thing I'm worried about with Uresia, beyond the general suck: it's being linked to another fantasy world called Ikaris. My worry is ... Uresia has always been one of those worlds with no race that's "born bad, OK to genocide" and no culture that's "born bad, OK to genocide" (including extradimensional "demons;" they're just folks) and which presents bigotry as a bad thing, not the basis for heroism. If Ikaris _isn't_ that way, that could add insult to injury. 😥 #UresiaRPG

@SJohnRoss tell us more. I have always loved #UresiaRPG and yet only to read. Has there been a disappointment?

After a day or so of the Thousand-Yard Stare and other unpleasant emotional states, I think I've found most of my sense of humor about the new Uresia book. Past a certain point, all that's left is to shrug.

I'm also still potentially interested in its future, since I think (?) it'll be fair game for some kind of community content on OBS ... which could mean a chance of fan-writers who DO understand it, writing supplements for the edition that doesn't. #UresiaRPG
