I know I said I'd avoid flying VATSIM at night because it affects my ability to sleep

Much as I enjoy flying under VATSIM ATC coverage, I need to make a point not to do any just before sleeping. The level of alertness it requires keeps me perked up past midnight as if I drank a dozen expressos

Sure enough, I got my first VATSIM flight in today, from Birmingham to Schiphol! Hesitated too long requesting departure clearance so I didn't get any ATC outbound, but was great having some coverage for the landing into Amsterdam.

Was a bit intimidating making sure I get the phraseology and readbacks correct - on top of actually flying the plane itself - but it was fun and I can't wait to do another hop on the server.

There's something intensely satisfying about seeing so many pilots and ATCs logged into VATSIM just enjoying the simple pleasures of aviation together.

Definitely looking forward to getting in there with them soon!
