Riding #ViaRail, I’m highly convinced that #Sherbrooke should invest in re-establishing the rail line between Montreal and Sherbrooke. It’s so much more convenient and relaxing than the plane and less carbon footprint. If we had a rail that could go the speed of ViaRail or faster, connect to the REM in Brossard, we would be able to travel entirely by train from the Eastern Townships to Toronto.

Only 2 more hours of this train ride. So far, so good. Nugget has busied herself and no meltdown so far. We’ve been on the go now for 8hrs. We’ve always been pretty lucky travelling with her. I basically anticipate everything she needs: snacks, activities, potty break, drink (she’s been drinking nothing but water and I am so proud 😭).

Obviously we don't know the details on why the passenger and freight trains collided, but if they shared tracks like #ViaRail does with CP, it's clearly not the best solution. Freight companies who own the rails will always give priority to their own trains rather than passenger. This is why it's incredibly important to have dedicated passenger rails.

Excited for our impending trip to #Toronto with a charter #bus and #train. ✌🏼

Disappointed that we will not experiment #ViaRail’s new Siemens Charter trains since it only runs on the MTL-OTT route. It’ll be a 10hr trip, so need to bring chargers, tablet, and tons of food in the case we’re stuck on the train (it’s happened before). I’m a minimalist packer in general, but I also prepare for the worst case scenarios.
