@millihertz @SweetAIBelle @retronianne I just don't see a reason to use #emacs over #ne, #nano or even #vim.
Not to mention that people who say some bs about "#Unix #Principle" but then use basically a #TUI-#Desktop with #email client, #filemanager and #editor rolled up in one kinda discredits them...
#systemd - like #wayland - fixes a shitton of issues noone else wanted to fix.
SystemD-Haters and Emacs fans are basically the same people AFAICS and they also tend to be toxic Stallmanists...
#wayland #systemd #editor #filemanager #Email #Desktop #tui #principle #Unix #VIM #nano #ne #eMacs
@beforewisdom personally, I do like #nano for being just an editor one can use and not have to learn archaic commands.
#ne adds an even nicer #TUI to it at the cost of needing #ncurses,.
I mean a lot of people can get quite speedy on #vim and espechally #neovim, like @fuchsiii, but since I'm not a #FrontendDev but #Linux #Sysadmin, I do follow "#ConfigurationByException" as I think default configs are done for a reason...

Recommend me a note taking solution, based in vim and good mobile support.
Dutch software engineer and creator of the popular Vim Text Editor for Linux, Bram Moolenaar, has passed away. #BramMoolenaar #Vim #Linux #Technology #RIP https://www.hackread.com/vim-text-editor-linux-bram-moolenaar-passes-away/

Sad news again. #BramMoolenaar, author of #vim has died. I've spent countless hours using his editor with great joy and it made me a lot more productive. I can't say I knew him, but the couple of short interactions I've had with him were very pleasant. Rest in peace, Bram.
Time to make another donation to the International Child Care Fund (https://www.iccf.nl/index.html) as he would have wanted.
Sad to read of the passing of Bram Moolenaar the creator of the #vim editor. Itβs hard to state the indirect impact heβs had on my life for the past 25 years. Vim is not my only editor, but I use it daily and itβs the only thing that works on every system I need to work on.
R.I.P Bram Moolenaar, the father of the Vim Editor. He passed away on August 3rd.

In amidst a discussion amongst friends about the usual rivalries of #programming languages and IDEs (vs #vim or #Emacs), I had a realization.
My choice of languages, tools and doing everything in Emacs works fantastically for me. But I'd never impose or wish it upon anyone else.
I tried #Emacs and it was just a waste if time.
I should've rather invested that time in #vim or #neovim instead...
Still, it's more a consistentcy question:
Do you want an editor OR do you want an IDE??
You can either hate #SystemD or love emacs because the arguments against SystemD all apply to Emacs but NOT vice-versa, cuz SystemD actually solves issues, thus being "lesser evil".
I just discovered that the .md text editor Joplin has Vim mode. I didn't think I could possibly fall more in love with the project.

I like #nano since it's a "no fuss" option that just works.
I don't have the time or patience to learn all the commands for #vim when nano just works!
I could not find a #hyprland alternative for the excellent vim-sway-nav plugin (https://git.sr.ht/~jcc/vim-sway-nav),
so I created one myself. Want to navigate seamlessly between #vim or #neovim splits and #hyprland windows, check out my
