Using #OPNSense, is there really no "self-service" web interface? Where a user can login and do nothing beside changing their password, setting up OTP, download a #VPN config and (if needed) renew their users #X509 #cert (for that VPN)?

Right now it seems, if using OTP, an admin has to create the initial secret. Tell that to the user somehow. Also tell them initial password. Then user can login - and change password / request new OTP seed. But *nothing* else.

There appears to be no way to get the user a VPN config safely, have them update their cert once a year (default lifetime 397 days). Except for an admin doing the work of exporting the VPN config/cert and storing those exports in some other system, to which the user then needs access to download their config (or updated cert).

Really?

I hope I only miss stuff, this would be a *huge* point against OPNsense, unfortunately. I can't have an admin go and recreate things all the time.

Recordando, si usan un VPV y para aumentar la privacidad es recomendado de cambiar tu zona de horario del browser.
La única manera la que he encontrado es a través de add-ons o extensiones, un VPN no lo esconde o alterna. Igual webrtc, deben tomar medidas, de lo contrario puede filtrar la iplocal, pero peor la mac.

Y a t-il des gens ascendant #sysadmin qui auraient des #VPN à suggérer ? Pas à usage perso, mais pour le serveur que je m'installe à domicile. Mon FAI (Bouygues) ne permet pas le reverse-dns, et mon IP est sur une plage signalée comme spam par Spamhaus Zen, d'après ma fraîche install de YUNOHOST. Et comme je tiens à me servir notamment de ça comme service d'email, brancher mon serveur sur un VPN pourrait aider apparemment.

Oh nice, I cobbled together a #docker #compose file to get #tailscale running in a docker #container as an exit node. Instant #VPN with access to my home lab without opening a router port. This tailscale thing is pret-ty handy.

I may be in the market for a new #VPN now that #Mullvad has stopped offering port forwarding.

I miss my forwarded ports.

The only "Competing Option" would be to painstakingly setup #an On-Premise #CanonicalLandscap, #VPN and setup #Ubuntu LTS on external SSDs.

Personally, I think that having a second drive and/or booting @bunsenlabs #BunsenLabs #Linux to update the tails ISO securely is a more convenient option that doesn't require costly centralized infrastructure and just works.

I'd rather donate for that than having to subscribe to #Canonical's @ubuntu #UbuntuPro + more work.

My employer uses #FortiClient to connect to our #VPN. From #Linux, the client is clunky, and I have to reinstall it every month as it's unlicensed. Are there any alternatives to connect to these VPNs from Linux that are more open? Extra points for guide for #kubuntu #ubuntu #debian #networks ;-)
