Analyses of seismic data acquired from #NASA's #InSight mission on #Mars showed that the crust beneath the lander possessed 3 broad layers, with discontinuities being located at about 8, 20, and 40 km depth below the surface. Today in Nature Communications, Li et al. constrained the crustal structure at a location about 4000 km away from the lander. This was done by using seismic waves that originated from #VallesMarineris and bounced at the surface halfway to lander.
