that sometimes the humble character in the party is doing more than the other characters, and even players, know. At the next session I mentioned the Lasombra, the rest of the group were buzzing with anecdotes. This helped the complaining player reconsider the current game of Aberrant, Damian was playing Gravitas (Strong & Silent), to realise that Damian had done more than they assumed; also to maybe talk with other people and check.

Day Twenty-Nine: Most Memorable ENCOUNTER

Vampire LARP in college. My Toreador horror author meets the local Malkavian. She was circling me while asking me questions, like a predator. We hit it off and become a power-couple of evil. Humanity slid downward a lot. There was a body count in our feeding wake. Sadly, the Malkavian player quit the game, leaving my Toreador alone with the consequences of his actions.

It was Cappadocius, clan founder of the Cappadocians, and Augustus Giovanni, future clan founder of the Giovannis. It was absolutely intense, with a lot of roleplay & a fight my PC lost but that drove his evolution afterwards. 23. I mentioned how gorgeous #BluebeardsBride was last week (https://dice.camp/@davej/110897281421581064), and both #VampireTheMasquerade and #ChangelingTheDreaming were cases of love at first sight. But one #TTRPG that I don’t think gets enough attention is #Aquelarre.

Its mechanics are fairly straightforward #BRP, and Reconquista-era Spain appeals to the history buff in me, but the art is really where it shines: faux-mediaeval portraiture rendered in vivid colour. Just beautiful.

This ST is really making me want to scrap this character completely.

Literally just got told I “can’t be that nuanced”…on how I intend to play the character. We’re not even discussing what’s on the character sheet anymore…but somehow we’re at the point of analyzing how the character thinks.

We’re not even to the point where I can RP the character and I’m being told the character can’t have nuanced thought?!

Anyway, I’m having one of those moments where I’m about to scrap a #V5 character…and only because the ST is asking so many questions that it’s making me feel stupid about the character. Like, I don’t know the answer to these questions because we haven’t even RPd with them yet to know how they’d react.

Looking back on some of my most recent #TTRPG characters, I find I have a terrible habit of playing characters who have wandered in from other genres.

For example, one of my longer running #VampireTheMasquerade characters is a twin pistol toting pulp detective. But on the flipside, "La Sombra" LITERALLY means "The Shadow," so I mean, c'mon.

In the meanwhile, I just learned that there's a gang called "The StreetFighters" in #Cyberpunk, which means MY KUNG FU IS BEST.

Day Nine: Favorite DICE

Chessex Speckled Mercury Polyhedral (and d10s). I have had these forever. I have used them for so many games. The D10s are great for both #VampireTheMasquerade and #LegendOfTheFiveRings Scorpion Clan. I have several other dice sets, but this one is my go-to.

Runner-ups include my #Genesys dice (love that system) and a set of transparent green D6s (which roll a frightening large number of 6s).

I was able to get a preview of the artifact edition of the Book of Nod for #VampireTheMasquerade from Renegade Games while running around during setup yesterday at #GenCon. Awesome to see that coming together.

I’ve just started reading Dark Ages – Nosferatu (Dark Ages Clan Novel 1, 2002) because of a huge insomnia. But I must say I’m enjoying it a lot! It’s filling the void of not running my Dark Ages game (due to lack of players) and I dig for Constantinople and everything related to Ancient History since when I was a teenager.
