looks like the @vanillaos icon has become Fuzzy. As we all eagerly await the release (or release date announcement) of 2.0 Orchid, which is now pretty soon!
I think the biggest new thing 2.0 brings is OCI for the base system, which means I should be able to swap from the regular desktop image to, say, a KDE desktop image, without having to reinstall!

@drbjork Also you can use #silverblue and install stuff on an Ubuntu container
Maybe #Bluefin (https://universal-blue.org/images/bluefin/) or #VanillaOS (vanillaos.org) would be the distribution of choice

What do you think about immutable Linux desktops as a daily driver?
Do you like systems like #silverblue or #VanillaOS ?
Considering checking out an #immutable #Linux distro that uses #distrobox, like #openSUSE #MicroOS or #VanillaOS, because I like the extra security and separation and atomic updates and so on they offer, it's a lot like the stuff I like about #GrapheneOS, but I'm not sure if they're actually any more secure, since new root OS components can still be installed, it just requires a reboot. Does anyone know?

I'm just coping with the extreme anxiety of fedora giving me problems by trying out #VanillaOS. It seems to be designed to hold up against people like me. Any experience?
Like, i have to try hard to break it, right?
Did you know? #VanillaOS is not just another #Linux distribution!
We're going to explain why, Friday 28/July - 10:00 am at #GUADEC2023 by @gnome

@thelinuxcast I think I shouldâve told you this earlier⌠#VanillaOS has a âPackageManagerâ that can be installed on other distros, which basically a frontend for #DistroBox.
Installed #opensuse #tumbleweed on my old x230 because I'm sadly struggling too much with getting a dev environment working easily using either #docker or #nixshell running on #VanillaOS. Vanilla works great for my media laptop that must-not-break-no-matter-what, though.
I hadn't seen it previously but the opensuse installer has an encrypted partitions option, and it worked flawlessly! Guess I'll spend tomorrow reinstalling my other opensuse laptop as well.
#opensuse #tumbleweed #docker #nixshell #VanillaOS
@thelinuxEXP @vanillaos I swear, sometimes your videos seemed to be timed EXACTLY to what Iâve been looking into, as I tried installing #VanillaOS for the first time just YESTERDAY.
I was stymied by a bad Wi-Fi card in my test laptop, but Iâll be trying again today.
@adham Since youâre talking about distrobox, I would take a look at Apx, #VanillaOSâs âpackage managerâ, which is basically a frontend for distrobox. It can be installed on other distros. https://youtu.be/E1z_Ex7XyLw
I totally forgot that I had installed #vanillaos to check out and compare to my custom #archlinux install. Arch has just been good to me, minus #bluetooth issues, but I think that's just #linux in general.

Interesting to hear Bottlerocket's name evoked in this video.
#VanillaOS and Bottlerocket definitely don't compete (apples and oranges) but there are a lot of common threads.
So my Thetis FIDO/U2F key I got for Christmas actually does work with my #VanillaOS #Linux computer! I just had to run the command in the FAQ, make sure my user is in plugdev, and reboot:
https://thetis.io/#:~:text=echo%20'kernel%3D%3D%22hidraw*%22%2C%20subsystem%3D%3D%22hidraw%22%2C%20mode%3D%220664%22%2C%20group%3D%22plugdev%22'%20%7C%20sudo%20tee%20%2Fetc%2Fudev%2Frules.d%2Fthetisu2f.rules
