Il est même possible de redimensionner l'espace de données persistantes 😜
A priori on ne peut quand même pas changer le noyau des images #iso des OS sur la clé 😀

After trying out #antix on an old HP Mini 210 Netbook, I dug out an old and dusty HP Pavilion Slimline previously used by my parents. It's a #32bit Intel Pentium E6500 @ 2.93GHz, 2GB DDR3 1066MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4350 with Windows 7. I did a backup of their personal files and unplugged the HDD. I installed the Samsung #870Evo SSD and decided to install #DebianBookworm #debian12. It went successfully! I just used the i386 CD iso image from the Debian site on the #Ventoy drive. #learninglinux

Anybody have any opinions about #Linux #usb #boot drive tools? I've heard of some tools like #ventoy that let you have multiple ISOs on one drive. Worth it, or should I just dedicate the drive to one OS?

My new #ventoy drive is now up and running with #debian 12, #arch and #endeavorOS. also #kali because why not, even if I'm not going to use it

The plan is to create a custom bootable live Linux ISO where you can listen to stuff and run SuperCollider code, because it will contain installed and functional #SuperCollider

the OS will be actually in pure iso form via #Ventoy so if you're technically this much savy you can just grab the iso off it and boot OS in some Virtual Box or something.

@Akiko @CliffWade yeah, I didn't came around buying one of those #IODD enclosures for external 2,5" HDDs & SSDs that can boot even unmodified #WindowsXP - ISOs.

Tho #Ventoy kinda obsoleted those for almost everything...

@tails @torproject Worse of all: The way I want to deploy #Tails is by shoving the latest #ISO on a #Flashdrive that runs #Ventoy [https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html] and puts the #PersistentStorage on a seperate Partition on the #Flashdrive.

This is done so that updating Tails is fast and painless and doesn't exert higher levels of wear and tear on flash memory as well as allow for flexible choice of media sizes.

Worse: #Tails refuses to mount #PersistentStorage from a secondary Drive instead.

So basically you can just make your own custom multiboot stick with #Ventoy ( http://ventoy.net ) and drag&drop your ISOs into it.

One thing that kinda pisses me off about @tails is that it's #PersistentStorage - which is just a fancy name for #LUKS encryption - is absurdly restrictive and the #setup doesn't even want to work.

Like yes there's a reason I'm booting the #ISO via #Ventoy [ https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html ] and yes I want to use the vacantly kept 8GiB at the end of the flashdrive to be useable as for persistent storage and no, I need that drive to be as is since it's a #multiboot drive designed to be easily updated.

#Ubuntu is literally signed with said "#SecureBoot" aka. #CensorBoot keys and you can literally use #Ventoy to circumvent that since that's also supporting "Secure" boot...

Either way, the only valid option is to refuse to buy that shit in the first place and demand a full refund because one should be able to expect the ability to install their own OS of choice in 2023.

Finally uploaded a full video screen cap of Crypto-SOS bootable Linux. It's an imaged *.vtoy file that will boot off from a VENTOY usb drive. It has PERSISTENCE.

When I want to try out a Linux distro on a physical machine, previously I would download the *.iso installer file, flash it to a USB drive using the dd command, and away I go. Another distro, another wipe and flash USB, and repeat.

But there is a better way, and its name is Ventoy:

Je viens de découvrir #Ventoy https://www.ventoy.net/ . Ça permet d'avoir une clé USB bootable qui peut ensuite démarrer n'importe quel fichier ISO mis sur cette clé. On peut en mettre plusieurs et ça affiche un menu au démarrage!

@benjaminhollon @thelinuxcast For the sake of completeness: Since using #ventoy for booting/managing Linux live images from USB flash drive I had zero issues. So maybe try setting up Ventoy on a flash drive to boot SUSE - Chris Titus has a good intro to it :)
