Kinda messed up, lads.

In checking to see whether Sonoma would sync my iPod, I rather foolishly opened my Ventura music library directly, updating the library to a newer version of Music.app.

So yeah, now I can't access my music library on my Ventura partition...

Oops.

Been looking into the game porting kit that #Apple just dropped, and somewhat disappointed to see that it's #macOS #Sonoma only.

So my #MacBook running #Ventura through #OpenCore is off the table until (if) OpenCore can be updated to support Sonoma.

At my work we’ve been running into this problem since we upgraded to #Ventura on our #Macs where #GoogleDrive won’t sync properly and get stuck a lot of the time as outlined in this post

• locally edited files not syncing back to Drive

• error messages and sync issues with editing large files (enabling offline mode and marking those files as available offline helped)

• inability to delete folders

Anyone else have #MacOS cease indexing file names in local #dropbox and #GoogleDrive folders? It's totally wrecked my workflow with #Alfred and #Spotlight. Upgraded to #Ventura 13.1 yesterday, which fixed it for gDrive but still broken for Dropbox, which *was* more central to my #InfoManagement systems.

I have reams of digitized #ArchivalDocuments, #ReportingNotes, etc which all used to be at my fingertips and quickly searchable. Now it's a clunky process w/browser and redundencies in iCloud

Both #spotlight and #applemail #search have improved a lot in #ventura. #Safari also feels snappier.

Upgraded both #M1mini and #MBP to #Ventura. I had to solve some issues with Homebrew and Ruby and file sharing was not working at first, but all is good now.

Currently trying out #StageManager on #Ventura, and I've yet to really grasp the point of it.

That said, if you're the kind of user who has all of their windows piled up on the desktop, then I guess it makes some sense. But as someone who runs certain apps in a full screen space, it adds nothing.

In further #iPod news, upgrading my Mac to #Ventura appears to have broken the syncing.

Bah.

My MacBook Air battery only lasts about 2 hours now. It's pretty disappointing especially as it's only 10 years old.

Jokes aside, I'm liking #macOS #Ventura, and I'm particularly glad I had the foresight to spec it with 8GB RAM otherwise it would really struggle! (specs: mid-2012 13", dual core 1.8GHz i5 3rd gen. OpenCore Legacy Patcher to install Ventura).

@caius I upgraded to #macos #Ventura and regretted it right away. It broke several homebrew tools that haven't been updated yet, and I had problems getting #ruby to work. Maybe a clean install would be better but I downgraded to #monterey instead. I am never gonna upgrade right away again. Learned my lesson

Nice, if you wipe a Mac with #macOS #Ventura it’ll lock up after the wipe is complete; it requires you to select a WiFi network to activate, but there is no WiFi menu!

Workaround is to reboot into the startup options menu (recovery mode) which will have the WiFi menu.

I'm noticing tonight that #macOS #Ventura seems to have gotten some upgrades to the OCR, so it's not assuming the end of every line on the page is a line break and it's struggling less with quotation marks. It's not perfect, but this should make the project go a bit faster!
