Last year's acquisition of a rare, for the UK, Veronese portrait (NG6694) contains a curiosity: a six fingered sitter. Count them. On the left hand.

Ok, so continued examination rewards the resolute and I can now see what was originally intended, but it took some time.

The hands, for me, do not convince. On the other hand, his ermine robe is, as my Aunt Felicity would say, 'Lovely!'.
