I got a new job that pays more and has better benefits. Those who know me know I work in the veterinary field (not as a vet) and I’ve been at this place for over a year. There are a few reasons why I’m leaving like the usual more pay, better benefits, but there was another big reason.

I’m giving my 2 weeks notice to my manager and one of the doctors and I tell the doctor that one of the reasons is because when one doctor is on vacation and the other is off, we’re forced to be off ourselves and we can either take the hit to our paycheck or use our PTO, in which she responded that I had PTO but wouldn’t use it. I told her we shouldn’t have to do that because it’s not our fault that we’re off.

Now, apparently this is a thing in GP, but I don’t think it’s fair to anyone else working. This doesn’t seem like a good idea to do anywhere especially nowadays.
