The detailed daily case data for Victoria has been updated, up to June 28. QLD is up to June 27. NSW has not been updated since the prior week.

Most VIC regions have resumed the fall in cases, so it looks like the change in momentum last week was just a blip, not a trough. The regions going somewhat against that trend are Barwon South West and Grampians, where the Reff is about 0.9.

Why no Footscray Rd bus lanes?

> Three rail lines closed from the west, and the worst bus delays are precisely where they could allocate bus lanes.

Here's the latest variant picture for Victoria.

XBB.1.16.* "Arcturus" (34%) is taking it's turn to dominate, following XBB.1.9.* "Hyperion" (24%).

XBB.1.5.* "Kraken" (13%) has been declining steadily.

The mix of very different variants poses a raised immediate re-infection risk for anyone relying on natural immunity from a recent infection.

The detailed daily case data for VIC & NSW has been updated, up to June 21. QLD is up to June 20.

Among the VIC regions, I noticed that the Hume and Barwon South West regions both appear to have hit their trough already and cases have been rising in recent days. Both regions are now showing a Reff (case momentum) above 1.0. Among the remaining VIC regions, the Reff has swung quite noticeably back towards 1.0.

This looks like the trough of infections in VIC has probably already passed, and the next wave is now beginning. I hope everyone in Victoria was able to complete any high-risk activities in that brief window of lower risk, before the next wave really gets going.

Be alert for conjunctivitis symptoms, particularly associated with the Arcturus variant.

The sample volumes seem representative up to June 5.

One of the fantastic works of art at the Gallery of Indigenous Art at Michelton, Victoria: The Message Stick Vehicle. If you are in that neck of the woods, it is worth a visit 😀

I've integrated the available data by age into my detailed daily case report.

For NSW, VIC & QLD, the report analyses PCR and RAT reported cases by age group, with detail by day. Each state uses their own "creative" age groups. QLD's is the most detailed (buckets of 5 years up to 100+), which is more useful for specific comparisons but harder to get an overall picture.

NSW & VIC Data is usually weekly on Fridays, with the NSW data typically lagging an extra day. QLD data is usually published on Wednesdays.

If you are disappointed by the data provided by your state or jurisdiction, please contact your local health department and elected representatives and let them know.

As with the detailed case data by location in that report, I've derived metrics like Reff, 7-day averages and per capita. I've switched from per 100K to per 1M, for consistency with my other reports.

Here are some sample outputs, showing higher case rates (per capita) in elderly Victorians, and higher case rates in older QLD school-aged children.

Victoria's detailed daily case data has been updated, up to May 17.

Case rates rose in almost every region except Inner Melbourne, led again by the Grampians region (33/100K, 7-day avg).

The Grampians region also reported the highest Reff (case momentum) at 1.55, with the neighbouring Loddon Mallee region at 1.54.

Today I'm launching a new report, combining the detailed daily case data down to LGA level for New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, Australia.

For NSW & VIC, the report analyses PCR and RAT reported cases down to LGA level, with derived metrics like Reff and Cases per 100K. Data is published weekly on Fridays, with the NSW data typically lagging an extra day. The NSW data was not updated at all this week, for reasons.

For QLD, the report analyses PCR cases and tests down to LGA level, with further derived metrics like % Positive and Tests per 100K. Data is published on Wednesdays.

If you are disappointed by the data provided by your state or jurisdiction, please contact your elected representatives and let them know.

All these variations in the data mean you often can't compare across states. They are presented together for ease of development at my end. Every page has a slicer control at the top-right where you can choose a state, region or even specific LGAs, and those selections are carried across all the pages.

I'll continue to work on improving the pages as I can - all feedback is welcome.

This replaces my previous detailed reports on NSW & VIC, which will no longer be updated.

The detailed daily case data for Victoria has been updated - to April 20.

4-day Reff (case momentum) for the state fell across the week to end at 0.96. To some extent this is still impacted by the Easter long holiday weekend, but that effect will be cleared next week.

Reff for the Hume region was the highest, ending at 1.08, led by Strathbogie at 2.60.

The map shows cases per 100K population. Hindmarsh reported the highest rates this week, at 286/100K for the week. That's around 3X the state aggregate of 91/100K.
