Fired up my Mac SE/30 and my MIDI setup to create future montage music for my youtube channel videos where sped up soldering/assembly occurs! Using Cubase 2.5 and a Roland SC-88ST to keep it all vintage.

Cleaning up my new project. Not sure who Steward is, but he labeled a number of chips on the motherboard of this 7100/80.

Today I also ran across some useful Apple cables - a PowerBook HDI30 SCSI cable and a serial adapter that I both picked up

Do you need a SCSI device ID card to open this garage door??

Suddenly remembered I had a Wacom Graphire 2 tablet I picked up for like $3 at HARD OFF. Driver support was dropped long ago and I never got around to trying it with any of my old machines. Now that I set up the G4 running OS X for the kids, it seems like a nice toy for them to try out!

My kids’ PowerBook G3 Wallstreet died (bad flex cable - white screen) and they’re sad they can’t play their edutainment games.

I have a lampshade iMac G4 they can use (USB 2 model) but it’s OS X-only, and nearly all the Classic games they have fail in the Classic environment.

And it seems like very few preschool infotainment games were released for OS X PPC… I guess it was in the era after the CD-ROM when everyone was doing flash games online?

Hi, retrocomputer and code/git friends!

I’m trying @forgejo - a self-hosted, local Github replacement.

I’ve shared my cleaned-up, high-res Macintosh SE & SE/30 Analog Board schematic, here: git.j-w.au/james/Macintosh-SE-

Running my own Forgejo instance is motivating me to have more version-control discipline!!

I'm finding my feet with Forgejo. I like it a lot! If something looks weird, *please* let me know & don't hack my doodads.

Today in the lab: tearing something apart without any idea what you’re doing is not usually a good way to fix it! But let’s see if I can fix this Apple USB Keyboard that isn’t signaling correctly.

Hey nerds!

Does anybody know much about the original, pre-Plus Macintosh keyboards? Mine still doesn't seem to want to work and I'm curious if anybody has any tips for what to look at.

The cable works fine with another keyboard. A different keyboard works with the 512. The separate numpad works fine.

It's the model with an Intel 8404 chip on it, if that makes any difference.

Rewatching the PowerMac G3 (Blue & White) intro, which was also when Steve Jobs tells a curious crowd why FireWire is better than SCSI.

This janky cable I’m making for a Power Mac 6100 DOS Compatibility card is actually working. The card seems to be loading CD-ROM and SoundBlaster drivers but isn’t actually reading CDs or playing audio even though the Mac side is fine. I can’t wait to play some Dune II on this thing!

I have a Power Mac 6100 with DOS Compatibility card but no cable. About to dive into making one but really don’t want to.

Mine had red buttons and worked damn well with Sabotage on Apple II. Except my buttons were red and the springs popped out. Magic tape helped for a while… Memory does not know. I was 5 or 6. This guy is very similar. ebay.com/itm/394700322124?mkci
