The 2nd best thing about my wonderful 70’s Kenwood amp (next to the sound) is its KnobFeel

A bit of Mandi on Monday
Sorry Mandidextrous, I've retro'd you onto tape
*Sorry not sorry 🙃🙂
Sweet! I like to see those reels turning 😀
The Bluetooth module can be switched on from the front panel, so can the meters and the third button just gives it a warm cosy glow 🥰
The tuning dial is controlling the input to the KA2284 chip so even if you're playing music at low volume all the leds can be active
Cosy 🥰
My abomination is complete!
All I can say is JVC might have sold more tuners in 1982 if they'd included a flashy variable decibel display and Bluetooth 🙃

Do you need another clue?
Can you see what upgrade this old tuner is getting yet?
That's most of the staining and scratches buffed out.
Bring back aluminium face plates!
They're soooooo much nicer than black plastic
@48kRAM @MLE_online 70's and early 80's was the golden period for Hifi. The machines are beautiful 😍
Here's a question for the 'Golden Ear' audiophiles.
Dedicated CD players for analogue Hifi Amps are now getting old, rarer and failing fast.
A more 'modern' alternative is the DVD player which can happily play CD's through an analogue Amp using RCA Audio out connections or an adapted Scart lead and is using a more modern DAC to do so.
Soooo. A DVD player must have better sound than a CD player.
Discuss........
Have ten seconds of 80's Trash City played on an 80's deck 🥰
A nothing to write home about, nothing special turntable in the 80s but now.......🤔
@Archie8 How does one explain in #VintageHiFi terms?
Erm ...
You know auto-changers that could drop down the next 45 when the needle got to the end of the playing one? Sort of like that. But for #Twitter.
And the Russian propagandists have jukeboxes.
(-:
So here's all my vintage JVC collection stacked together and in full working order.
I love the aesthetics of these machines.
The buttons and dials you need to adjust
The lights and colours moving with the rhythm
They make listening to music an event
A joy
☺
It lives!
The radio works better now I've replaced the Cap on the power supply and it's now got an illuminated display again by replacing the blown incandescent 12v bulbs with LEDs.
I've also messed about with the colours of the strength indicators because the original ones (which I've put in a safe place in case I want to reinstate it to 100% originality) were, quite frankly, rather boring.
Time to hit ebay!
It looks OK inside ....well...apart from the massive Cap in the power supply section which has blown and leaked on the board 😱
The latest addition to the collection 🙂
A JVC T-K100L Tuner from 1983. Made in Singapore.
Its a 'bit' rusty and I suspect this has been in a shed for a loooooong time.
It does power up but the switches are heavily oxidised so its not picking up many stations yet.
Time to have a look inside 😬
