Today in #specialcollections at the #virginiatech #library I learned how to pickle muskmelon (with ginger, cloves and mace). Also, my students discovered the wealth of primary and rare resources available to them.

As I sit here and watch a fantastic #VirginiaTech - #Miami basketball game, I can’t help but get more angry that the #ACC brain trust decided to break up the football rivalry with their new dumb scheduling plan so that VT could play Wake Forest and Miami could play Louisville, annually.

Like, it’s a well established rivalry game and they have played annually for 31 years and switched conferences together.

It makes NO sense.

It's a little intimidating to come off holiday and immediately teach multi-day workshops but I always look forward to our @thecarpentries #softwareCarpentry workshops at #VirginiaTech because I love seeing people discover they can code or use version control, even if they've never done anything like it in the past!
