I'm always happiest when I have a 🐦side project ongoing. Now accepted in #JAnimEcol: Shannon Luepold's PhD thesis chapter on conspecific attraction in wood warblers. Males get together(ish) before females arrive, so much that they're attracted to song playbacks - why? Evidence points at the importance of being in places where females will be, and males succeed in these places despite, not because, other males being there too.
Congrats 🎉 Shannon even if you're not on this site (yet)! #Vogelwarte
