one more #sketch - species [#Vortecc] this time.
apparently I enjoy drawing tentacly content right now. well. *shrug*

[Vortecc] have "permanent" appendages. that's the tail and the three long "hair" on their head. but they can sprout many more on their back. a lot more..

aand I am unsatisfied how I did the tail. it's a pigment liner and ink sketch.. so no erasing 😭 thanks editor there is crop. maybe I'll show the full drawing later.

...and to reveal something normal too: their typical size is from 1,70 to 2 meters (~5,6 to 6.6 feet). yep, likely bigger than you.

oh and what does 5th nation mean?
the [#Araz] is a space federation, the biggest in my world, with nine members in total. the [#Vortecc] were the fifth to join, which is why they're dubbed the fifth ~

...to explain the slits on their chest, yes, that's indeed nose slits, just not on the nose. they have no sense of smell there, olfactory receptors are located on the limbs and tongues. the location of the slits is important though, especially when the tongues are out and everything in their throat is basically blocked. if they had a regular nose located on the head they could easily choke themselves...

...their voices sound uncanny to say the least. imagine a snake whispering with some raspy undertone. their words are distorted, almost like they have a hollow echo. definitely something to remember (in your nightmares). luckily, they don't speak much...

...contrary to their rigid bodies, those bendy extra-limbs are in constant motion. sometimes they are slowly squirming like oversized worms and sometimes they fan out, usually to reach for objects or.. you. but no worries, they just try to get a better impression about how you smell today. who knows, maybe they need to track you later...

[Vortecc] are considered eerie, specifically because of their posture and their voice. their bodies are mostly rigid until they move, then they can be very fast (it's like with those big black spiders that are at a standstill seemingly forever until they suddenly run over your toes..)..

I started to make a species ref sheet for my [#Vortecc]. so far I spent 8 hours all in one go and now it's 3:25 in the morning.
I love those nights.

fear the unknown.
among the 9 nations of [#Araz], the [#Vortecc] are considered the strangest and most uncanny species of all. why, do you ask?

because look.. they stare at you from a distance, their hair always writhing and shifting, bodies rigid as stone. and listen to their voices, the distorted sounds they call words. their skin is cold, too cold for the living. they do not talk lightly. they are quiet, eerie and unknown.

in my world the [#Vortecc] are a strange people. others tend to treat them with caution, mistrust or even fear. it's not like they are mean or truly dangerous, but they are reclusive, do not speak much and if they do they speak their mind freely. what's not helpful either is the sound of their voices. it's eerie to say the least.

and they do look sinister, otherworldly even, with some weird "abilities", but I haven't managed to visualize that yet.. .__.

conclusion: I'm keeping the freaky hands with the double nails, also the tongue(s) and eye number. face shape may change, maybe the "hair" too. I want these people more spooky and less reptile-like. like out-of-the-void-spooky. will try again.

I'm trying to visualize my [#Vortecc], a species that belongs to #WorldOfKrim, my own universe.

this drawing is an early concept. the 6 eyes are canon, among other things, but a lot of parts are still open for exploration. I have a feeling I'll be doing something different with the "hair" & "nose".

(some lines are sloppy as I did this during a plane/train ride, sry c: )
