For games like Disgaea I use the built in random name generator. I don't name a single custom character myself. Except for in Disgaea 1 when I make my first Majin.

If you're starting out, then what matters is that you use what you have on hand, and if you don't even have a mic, buy what you can reasonably afford.

Spending more on audio is more of a long-term goal if you plan on committing to being a content creator.
