Outing today to Brighton State Recreation Area for the 2023 Winter Field Day from the ARROW club operating as #W8RP . We were at the Wegawas rustic cabin operating 2I MI - one voice station, one CW station.
In addition to Winter Field Day there was #POTA activity - look for spots on K-3384 (and you know I don't see that on https://pota.app/#/profile/W8RP so maybe something else is going on).
9 check-ins on the #W8RP Arrow DMR net just now, Matt #WS8U net control, 21 minutes run time. Stations from Ann Arbor, a few others in downstate Michigan, Marquette in the U.P., and several from Florida.
Noted that this Saturday night net is now listed on the BridgeCom #DMR net listing:

(I know that I've also seen longer lists of DMR nets, but as ever you never really know which ones are active until you try them.)
Successful #DMR QSO with Tom #N8TJ on Michigan #TG3126 .
The #W8RP UHF DMR repeater is about 3 miles due south of here (Wolverine Tower or "WoTo"), and I'm on the 3d floor in a building with brick walls next to a bunch of other buildings with brick walls. Yet with all that obstruction the reception was just a little bit glitchy (0-3% error rate) and reported 100% copy.
The other piece of that good news is that I don't need to build a second DMR hotspot to have coverage here.

The ARROW crew operates mobile and portable a local park once a month as the #AMPteam . Outdoor temps in Saline MI are about 26F / -3C, so after gathering in the park the crew retreated back to their warm vehicles.
The note from the park is that if your HT is desensed from nearby transmitters and can't hear the repeater, switch to the reverse (input frequency) and pick up local transmissions directly.

Monday night on 2m, net on 146.96- out of the ARROW repeater in Ann Arbor EN82. We regularly get check-ins from Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, Livingston, and Monroe County. There is no digital in on this repeater, and no scanner relay to Broadcastify that I'm aware of. (A DX challenge, I guess.)
Net starts at 800p Eastern and might typically run an hour or so.
There's also a MichiganONE DMR net on Brandmeister TG 3126 (Michigan) at 830p Eastern.
Nick #W8XM did a short writeup on the intersection between #APRS and #AREDN on the ARROW #W8RP AREDN network in Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti MI (Washtenaw County, EN82).

tldr: Pi + software modem doing an APRS I-Gate at a location *without* Internet access of its own, connected over one 5GHz and one 2.4GHz hop to W8XM's home network gateway (special segmented network exclusively used for aredn internet)
