どうする東芝?

WD社から、Seagateに続き、デュアル・アクチュエ―タ搭載のHDD出荷されたとの事。

これは昨年、昨年年末までに出荷するのではと噂されていた技術を搭載した製品で、今後の「パブリック・クラウド・プロバイダー御用達HDD」に必要な機能かと思っています。

この技術は、2016年に、Googleが提言し、Seagateが、2018年に「MACH.2」として開発を公表し、その後に製品化したと同様の技術。

HDDの出荷が落ちているという話題。

数ヶ月前から、有力パブリックプロバイダーが設備投資金額を抑制し始めているという記事が出ていましたから、特に驚きはありません。

むしろ、私が全く評価していない、「OptiNAND技術」を搭載することで、他社より大容量なHDDを出荷している、WD社のシェアが落ち続けている点は少し驚き。

@funqr ausgiebig Erfahrung habe ich nur mit #WD Blue Serie, die kaufe ich seit Jahren und hatte bisher nie Probleme. Ob HDD oder SSD, keine Ausfälle im PC gehabt. 😉

Zudem nutze ich noch Speichermedien von #Crucial als SSD und M2(P1 Version) und kann davon auch nichts schlechtes berichten.

Ich würde bei einem #NAS dann HDD für das Datengrab neben, wenn da kaum Videos drüber laufen sollen. Ansonsten noch eine SSD als Zwischenspeicher/Cache, wenn im Gerät verfügbar.
