Even when you're not feeling inspired, there's always something to draw. I made this while squashed onto a train from London, surrounded by lots of other squashed people. This is basically all I could see between the coats and bags and legs as I crouched in the doorway space :paintred:

A watercolour sketch of my garden shed. I was feeling particularly inspired by John Singer Sargent so I tried out using wax resist (an old candle I found in a kitchen cupboard) on the background trees to get the light effect.

This was a speedy painting of a church in the centre of Athens. I sat on the pavement, tried not to get in anyone's way and blocked in the watercolour first. It dried quickly in the heat and then I added the linework in watered down fountain pen ink. Still one of my favourite spontaneous sketches and a nice memory of a great holiday travelling around Greece.

A sketch from trying to take my daughter swimming but she hated it so we've given up until she's a bit older. The cafe at this swimming pool had a big viewing window right next to the baby pool so I had a perfect view.
