@ed_hawkins I would not change the #WarningStripes now, because they are very famous now, but I would improve the version with the bars (& labels) to reflect that. Also having the last value matching with the value reported by #IPCC would be, IMO, much better.
In any case, those are just suggestions to improve the plots. Hope they might help.
Hi @ed_hawkins, your #WarningStripes are awesome. I made my own version using the data from #BerkeleyEarth (and in 🇫🇷 ), but I changed the normalisation.
The way it is normalised is presenting #GlobalWarming to have started ~30 years ago which is not true. It also give the feeling that we changed from a cold period to a hot one, which isn't completely true. Before #climatechange, the temperature was fluctuating around a mean value, while now it is always much hotter.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful thoughts and comments. More preferred the 'fade to black' option, so some tweaks to the colours (& reference period) gives this version. Probably won't work in all situations but this is an option for now and shows up to 2080.
