A new wetland is being created by Wessex Water to help deal with sewage runoff at one of its pumping stations. The station had discharged waste for 37 days last year. Hopefully the wetland will stop that runoff entering the river network whilst also providing habitat.

After being wiped out in most of the UK in the 50's and 60's, otter numbers have been steadily improving. Until recently, when increased river pollution is doing great harm. Thankfully work has been done recently to improve water quality in the River Cynon, and now otter numbers seem to be increasing again.
