A team of #astronomers makes an announcement --
Mysterious signal from K34!
Top expert #cryptographers race to decode it,
With #wavelength and #spectrum analysis, more,
This cyclic #enigma beamed out from on high,
"Cottleston, Cottleston, Cottleston pie
Cottleston, Cottleston, #CottlestonPie"

Liking the look of #Wavelength but once I’ve connected it’s hard (impossible?) to actually find any relevant groups unless you create them yourself. As always struggling to convince anyone else to use anything other than WhatsApp!
If you've read the article about #Wavelength and want to participate in a test group (trying to hit 20 members to see what happens), click on this to get an invite into the room. (We're up to 15 things to provide as feedback already):

Has anyone got #Wavelength app working in NZ? The activation sms isn’t coming through… https://wavelength.app
The name of the game is super–resolution #microscopy, which is any #optical #imaging technique that can resolve things smaller than half the #wavelength of light.

9️⃣ If you look precisely to the #transit depth, you can see that they significantly vary over #wavelength. Look at these data from just ONE transit observed with #JWST, and compared them the data I shown in my post 3️⃣ (here in grey) that requested several observations with different instruments. This is really impressive / amazing / ...

Now, when scientists saw the #spectrum of starlight, they noticed that the "rainbow" wasn't exactly continuous and smooth, but had some black lines in it. This lines, called #absorption lines, are caused by specific elements in the atmosphere of the star, blocking that specific #wavelength. These lines are very specific to each star type, so they are like the bar codes in the items on a supermarket.
