it seems hard to spell out in this picture the important difference between #FiniteMode and #InfiniteMode without overstretching the analogy as a whole - as the as well decisive difference between #substance and #InfiniteMode vanishes in this picture.

nevertheless, the picturesque analogy of #Spinoza's #modes as #WavesOnTheSea - else as #DunesInTheSandDesert - serves a respectable philosophical purpose, in that it allows to some extent to check for the #adequacy of any purported account of the #ModesOfSubstance ( qua #SubstantiaeAffectiones #e1d5 ) in Spinoza
