To those who have had masks properly fitted- if it fits correctly, can you smell anything at all?

"In the blink of an eye, COVID has become one of the nation’s biggest killers, and because it is “additional”, life expectancy will start to decline, something that has not occurred for more than five decades."

"Almost every Australian has been infected, many two or three times, and more than 17,000 lives have been lost to the pandemic. That number grows when so-called “excess deaths” - deaths more than expected based on the average in pre-pandemic years - are calculated."

"While case numbers mean much less now that testing and reporting have dropped off so significantly, hospitalisation rates remain a reasonably reliable guide to the scale of the problem."

"Almost 4000 people are hospitalised with COVID-19, close to the peak of 5500 in the July-August wave. Emergency departments across the country are under strain."

"Approximately 15,000 lives lost in 2022 (compared with just over 2000 in the previous two years)"

"But a conservative estimate is that 500,000 Australians will suffer from long COVID"

"The current wave is almost as severe as any of the other three waves we faced last year, with more than 100,000 reported cases a week."

A really good article from Brendan Crabb and Mike Toole about how we live dangerously with COVID in Australia. A lot of people thought when we elected a so called progressive Labor government they'd handle Covid responsibly. They have failed on all fronts to do so. Here are some of the highlights:

@Billius27 I'm Still wearing masks will continue to when outside or in close quarters. needs to come to their senses and put the back out. My driver had his plastic divider up today and he was wearing an n95. Felt very confident to get into his car.

Entering the third winter of the pandemic, it's frightening to see so many nations take a Ç'est la vie attitude towards prevention. Get vaccinated and wear a mask. We need to protect ourselves and others.

Feeling really really 'ordinary' today with a bug that husb brought back to Melbourne, Aus from Holland and gave to me and daughter.
Weve all done multiple Covid tests, all Negv, so thinking it might be RSV?
OR is it covid but the RATs not picking this strain up?
This honestly worse than Covid. Im on Day5 and feeling 💩. Husb is on Day10 and still not better.

My son tested positive for today & had a fever of 102. Looks like will be postponed. My father in law passed from covid complications in April...we are not risking getting my mil sick just to have turkey dinner.
