Everyone start making shitty browsers now. Build your sites in Gemini. Cobble together your web browsing experience with bits of string.

Support random parts of the spec. Leave JavaScript out of your implementation. Or cookies. Or just have the bits of the js standard you care about.

Remind people that the spec is a guide and support isn't guaranteed.

We need to #BreakTheWeb now and we need to do it comprehensively. We need to build the community of earnest enthusiasts that the web should always be.

#WEI does not belong on the web. #DRM doesn't belong in the spec. #Chromium cannot be the only browser.

So build your weird little websites and your weird little websites and share them with me and the rest of the world. We need to act before it's too late. And if it is too late we need to build something better.

Other than that - speak up against #WEI wherever you have a chance, I guess? Make your feelings known to the #W3C. Talk to others about this issue.

I'm afraid if the pushback isn't loud enough and long enough, if it dies down a bit, #Google will be able to just wait it out, and then roll it out in Chrome, and at that point, it's too late. The open web is then #dead.

I think you're giving #Google far too much credit here; it isn't "almost 100% only oriented around #publisher interests", it is exactly 100% that. The use cases they give for this proposal helping users are garbage examples, and authors can barely even pretend they're actually valid.

I'm a #software #engineer of <mumble> years with extensive work in #network/#internet/#web fields - and the proposal alarms me, simply because so many of the things that make the web #open and #useful to people now would, fairly obviously, not be able to earn a "#trusted" designation by any #WEI "#attester" -- at least not one that had any intention of being #accepted/#blessed by #Chrome etc.

#Coda: I've never asked people to share or boost my content; it just doesn't feel right to me.

However, this issue is important. "Regular" people need to know about #WebEnvironmentIntegrity, and how it will be used for evil.
