🌳 Lone walnut tree at sunset, in May. By July, the fallow field to the right was full of wildflowers. In August, the vineyards hung heavy with grapes.

I harvested green walnuts on June 24—the traditional day in Europe, when they are still soft—and made walnut liquor.

Where I live, we are surrounded by ~420 sq. km of vineyards (approx. 6 east/west and 70 north/south). This view looks west from a nearby hill. See all those paths? Unlike the US, where there would be “No Trespassing” signs all over the place, these are open to anyone to walk or cycle through.

🌳 On some Fridays in the warmer months, I sit beneath a walnut tree in the vineyards, where neighbors place a table and benches. There I do a weekly review, and have a “thinking day,” where I answer a set of questions I’ve devised for myself. This occasional habit has yielded some important, healthy life changes. This is the view.
