There are so many ways to write good history. Lofty academic works with way too many footnotes are important. Creative narratives which focus on a narrow melodrama with lots of rich history as context are important. Even good historical fiction is important.

At the moment, I'm finally reading Alison Weir's "The Six Wives of Henry VIII." I love how accessible and personal she makes everything while remaining sufficiently tethered to her source material.

My only real stumbling block is that I've watched too many YouTube bootlegs of the musical "Six" and I have to remind myself that while it's wildly entertaining (and arguably historically "important"), it's not exactly on the same level in terms of its academic precision.

Finished "Project Hail Mary" this afternoon. Boy, what a story! What an ending!

"The Martian" was good. This... is pure gold. Absolute must read for any sci-fi nerd.
