A follow up in this, I just got an email from the 'Westgate Tunnel Project' saying the Federation Trail won't reopen until 2025.

That would be 3yrs late and 7yrs of closure in total.

4yrs was already too much time to close a major cycle way to widen a freeway. 7yrs is just taking the piss.

In 2019 @WestGateTunnel was asked by a member of the public if the Footscray Rd intersection that killed Angus was safe, WGTP responded by saying that warning signs alone are sufficient to get truck drivers to give way to riders & pedestrians on the shared path.

After Angus' death, WGTP have sent two lollypop people to protect the intersection.
Unfortunately, they're not stopping/slowing left hand turn trucks, as that "would be too dangerous".
Instead, they're asking cyclists to slow down.
