For #RPG link, I wonder what I'd use for a #WestWing game. @robindlaws's #Skulduggery ("the roleplaying game of verbal fireworks & sudden reversals") has a "Yes Wing" setting which *might* share an inspiration, but its stamp of "amoral, self-absorbed, or self-seeking characters" is a different take from the show's idealistic tone. (I've also heard good things on "Primetime Adventures" but not read it.) There are probably other options :-)
(1/3) Now reminded of the #WestWing pilot scene after Mallory (teacher bringing a group of children for a tour of the White House) has stern words with Sam (White House Deputy Communications Director who knows the Chief of Staff's daughter is on the tour)...
SAM: Ms. O'Brien, I understand your feelings, but please believe me when I tell you that I'm a nice guy having a bad day...
Watching Manchester Part I. Charlie and Toby play 9-ball, so why is the ball that Toby then picks up and rolls into the pocket the 12 ball? #WestWing

Watched Good Night And Good Luck. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie but after finishing it realized that it just felt really full of itself at every level. The cinematography was my favorite part but it was kinda fun in a “look what I can do” way. It isn’t a bad movie at all, but it felt like the thing people criticize the #WestWing for being.
Every performance was solid, but hard to stand out in those 90 min.
@jbe @NC5PhilWilliams @PeterRobison Ahhh. That reminds me of Oliver Babbage’s dictaphone… it was stuck in record, which is just the kind of thing you want lying around the White House counsel’s office.

is it too strong a use of language to declare that the west wing pilot is the best that’s ever been piloted?

Reminded, while dipping into the #WestWing marathon, that the show presents an idealized view of the Secret Service as unfailingly competent, professional, and nonpartisan.
Nobody watching really expected the fantasy of the enlightened president and idealistic staff to hew too close to reality. But the Secret Service is actually supposed to be competent, professional, and nonpartisan – which should be achievable institutional values – and the past few years have, well, shown otherwise.
I watched The West Wing premiere live when it first aired in 2000, and was hooked. I watched every episode of every season. Ended up buying them all on DVD. Even have a copy of a book with several Sorkin scripts in it.
Was everyone really that obtuse about how the government actually works back then, or was it just me? Because some of the exposition is what someone might generously call—not credible.
My memories are fond, but it’s a bit cringey today.

Thanks to @marcbernardin I’m now fully weeping at Charlie reviving a knife from Jed Bartlett. #westwing
"This time of the year, there should be a hotline you can call with questions about cooking turkeys -- a special 800 number where the phones are staffed by experts."
There is.
"What do you mean?"
The Butterball hotline.
"Butterball has a hotline?!"

A classic for #Thanksgiving: President Bartlet and the Butterball hotline.

I was a one of the early new wave of Mastodonians, and I'm having more fun on here than ever on the bird place, or indeed on the FB so-called metaverse. I walked off FB one day in April 2019, and never went back. There a hollow, abandoned page flapping in the hot air back somewhere, but I don't regret it. As President Bartlet says on #WestWing: "What's next?".
Following @halfcocked purely on the back of his profile pic of Tribbey with his bat. "And it's surely to their credit" one of my favourite episodes.
