Next was a thoughtful talk by Grant Campbell on the myriad biases and issues with using #AI to predict #dementia at #WesternUniversity. Next was a fabulous talk by Katy Greenland and @profkeonwest on the definitional boundaries of #discrimination at #WesternUniversity. Pretty much everyone thinks #racism is bad and don't think they engage in any racist behaviors, but racist acts happen all the time. This talk gets into the psychological foundation of this disconnect, and why quantitative metrics are essential for getting at the heart of discrimination. First was a thorough talk by @sylviafuller@mastodon.socia on women managers and the #gender wage gap at #WesternUniversity.
