From what I can gather, the executions did not go ahead in Myanmar yesterday, but the 7 students are still on death row.
Tell the UN Security Council and ASEAN to press the Myanmar junta to end its use of the death penalty.

This video shows the aftermath of a Nov 15 military raid in Nagapuak Village, Myaung Township, in Sagaing, where there is strong resistance against the military junta.
TW: Death & Disappearance. Suicide & Loss.
Adapted & updated from a thread written in April 2021. Partly doing this because seeing similar things happen again due to some of the heightened risks over there & coming here was definitely a mitigation attempt so as not to loose touch with some people.
Who knew we would make so many friends on the internet that loosing them would reduce us to tears over & over again. That we would scramble again to find alternative routes of communication to try to hold our communities together & our friends if not close but in touch.
---------------------------------------------------
One of the many shared pains of #MilkTeaAlliance community is when someone just *disappears* & there is often no way of knowing what has happened.
A friend wrote:
"You ever notice someone from Burma missing on Twitter?
And you're like worried. I mean I get that ppl do need to take a break from all this. Perhaps they have a main account, or moved on, etc.
But also ARE THEY SAFE???? "
I've lost count of the number of accounts that have gone silent or quietly deactivated with no warning. The not knowing is hard. All we can do is continue the struggle & hope for they safe.
In the Hong Kong context there was a wave (When the national security law was implemented) some announced some did not. Important voices vanished overnight, some remained for a while but faded. Other high profile people got arrested & their accounts deactivated.
There are still many here, some are careful, many are anonymous, many are now locked.
In Myanmar it seems more sporadic, sometimes it's twitter suspensions, sometimes voices just go dark, they had to flee, the internet got cut. It is everyday a few but also it feels like more join too. Although recently it feels like the losses are steeper & it's quieter.
Life happens as well, for many exam season is coming, work, life, internet issues can all cause temporary silence.
But in some cases I know that they were arrested or killed and that is also really hard because you feel powerless, sitting thousands of miles away. Heartbroken.
A Response from a friend:
Them: "The wondering if your friend/teammate is arrested or "suicided" part is the worst feeling ever."
Me: "I am sorry I shoulda put a warning on this thread"
Them: "It's okay TAT. I mean it shouldn't be okay but it is. I mean it's a violent, unjust world. And I mean most HK news don't have trigger warnings so it's aight, but it's not.. but you get it.
So it's aight. Some folks are still MIA that said they would report in."
(I broke in tears in that moment & I again cried re-reading it to write this)
One day I hope that we will hear many of these voices again. Until such time look out for one another. Wherever you are, you are not alone in this, we stand together #MilkTeaAlliance

I miss my friends, many of whom I only knew by their nicknames. I wonder what happened to them. and for some I know & I kind of wish I didn't.

Defending Human Rights in Myanmar: Responding to the human rights crisis in Myanmar
When: Tuesday 29 November 2022 from 6:00–7:00pm AEDT
The 2021 coup staged by the military (Tatmadaw) has disrupted Myanmar’s path to democracy and development. The coup has destabilised the country, damaged its economy, and unleashed the widespread and brutal suppression of the human rights of the Myanmar people.
In this panel discussion our distinguished participants, drawn from leading organisations committed to defending human rights in Myanmar, will describe the current dimensions of this human rights crisis; explain why citizens and workers have fought so strongly for the restoration of rights and freedoms; and assess the prospects for the perpetrators of human rights abuses being held to account.
Panel:
Chris Sidoti ( Special Advisory Council for Myanmar)
Htwe Htwe Thein (Associate Professor in International Business at the School of Management, Curtin University)
Manny Maung (Myanmar Researcher at the Asia Division of Human Rights Watch)
Tun Aung Shwe (National Unity Government of Myanmar representative in Australia)

The peoples of Myanmar know that #UselessASEAN 5 point consensus isn't going to help them.
Even the latest stance from ASEAN leaders conference doesn't inspire confidence, it's merely a tiny incremental step forward with no teeth, no real plan how to support the peoples of Myanmar or hold the Junta to account.
The Juntas' sham elections can't be allowed to whitewash their crimes against the peoples of Myanmar
It is up to us to help how we can... Amplify their voices, tell your governments that the 5 PC is shit, donate to the humanities resistance.
Whatever you can do.
