@natecull @cjd was very sympathetic to liberalism in your meaning 0, and consequently was a member of the (keeping in mind that at the time political parties were more about winning spoils than any particular philosophy). He favoured liberty for Catholics, free trade, and assemblies for the American colonies.

However, he also favoured gradual, legal change, preserving and reforming institutions. He defended the Church, aristocracy and property.
