@hutchingsmusic @EFDSS @folkmusic The origins of 'While Shepherd's Watched' are unclear. The folk tune of Ilkley Moor was composed in 1805 (Cranbrook), but the lyrics were first published in 1700 and more likely sung to the hymn we call Winchester Old (16th Century).

In the US they sing it to a totally different melody (Jackson's Tune, adapted from Handel).
