Is anyone making Bookish resolutions for the New Year?

I never make resolutions but I am making an intention (a much softer and more pliable thing) to try not to buy any new books but to read the books I have.

On that note one of my final book purchases of 2022 is the #WhiteHorseBookgroup book for January #InvisibleWomen by Caroline Oriado Perez. I hope you will consider joining me from 15th January for the read.

How’s the rest of the #WhiteHorseBookgroup getting on with The Primate’s Memoir? I’ve finished up and - I don’t want to spoil it - that was quite a final chapter! I’ve given it a four star rating on #Goodreads and feel a bit guilty about not giving it that final star. Maybe someday I’ll read it again and give it full marks

I have just started Part 4 of #APrimatesMemoir by Robert Sapolsky for our #NonFiction #BookGroup #WhiteHorseBookgroup titled Adulthood and I came across this article by Robert Sapolsky about aging male baboons and the behaviours that make for a successful old age.

Something to ponder as I think it holds lessons for human counterparts.

I’m currently reading A Primate’s Memoir: Love, Death and Baboons by Robert Sapolsky as recommended by #WhiteHorseBookgroup. I’m about three quarters of the way in and loving it. I’d hoped to have finished it by now but the festivities got in the way. According to my #Goodreads tally this will be the 117th book that I’ve read this year. I’ve just counted up the books that make up my #ToBeRead pile and it comes to exactly 117! I either need to get reading or head to the bookstore! Possibly both

@catblack I’m almost two thirds of the way through and finding it really gripping for #NonFiction. The way the story moves between the behaviour of the baboons, the problems directly related to studying the baboons and the geopolitical problems of Africa in general keeps the whole narrative moving along without getting bogged down.
