Three breeding pairs of #WhiteTailedEagle in the state of #SchleswigHolstein, where I lived. Now more than 120 pairs. The same with other large birds, #Osprey, #RedKite, #BlackKite, #Spoonbill, #WhiteStork, #GreyHeron well increasing. #GreatEgret and #LittleEgret as new breeding species. The same tendency in #Denmark. Lots of large windmills now, great birds increasing.

I enjoyed my first trip out with Mull Charters yesterday as a part of a workshop I was running all week.
Fantastic action from the eagles, and I was very pleased with the Canon R7 too, in very difficult conditions.

After sharing the footage of the local white-tailed eagles taking out a goose, I thought I'd show some slow-motion footage of how these majestic birds take (dead) fish from the water.
This was recorded from a friend's boat (Mull Charters) in July 2021, using my Canon R5 and EF100-400mm mk2 lens, hand-held.
The footage has been used by the RSPB for their promotional video about the eagles and Mull.

For those fans of eagles out there 😉 here's one from a couple of years ago, from the Mull Charters' boat trip, when one of the local adult eagles paid us a visit.
Some eagles drift down slowly to collect the fish thrown out, whereas others put on a real show, like this one.
For massive birds, they can be incredibly agile.

I think I know where the release location on the IOW is, and keep popping over, when I can. Nope, no luck as yet. There are 3 birds currently in Poole Harbour though! Ze slepen daarvoor vele takken aan die ze van bomen breken of van de grond rapen. Beide dieren, zowel man als vrouw, helpen met bouwen. Het nest is al flink gevorderd. Two Of A Kind.
Having seen a white-tailed eagle descending from the skies towards the edge of a loch on Mull, I decided to go for a look.
To my delight and surprise, it was not alone. Two, a pair of adults, were waiting for the tide to retreat in case anything worth scavenging was left behind.
