Well, I'm all set for my first #conference since the pandemic - the Wild West Hackin' Fest in Deadwood, South Dakota. I've never attended WWHF before, not sure what to expect aside from the normal infosec conference stuff.

I'm also doing the pre-conference training session (Threat Hunting & Incident Response with Velociraptor) w/ @eric_capuano and @shortstack.

Three years ago I was supposed to go to San Diego for #WildWestHackinFest but the in-person portion of the conference was cancelled because of COVID. @blackhillsinfosec did a great job pivoting to online on short notice (and I did a much poorer job presenting from home), and I had no problem cancelling my hotel reservation.

Then came the airline ticket. American would not issue a refund; they said I would have a credit for my next flight. Today I tried to book a flight to San Francisco, where my wife @ChrisAintMarchin is scheduled to do a reading for her novel in April, and be a belated return for us since we met there 26 years ago and had wanted to go for our 25th anniversary but, you know, #COVID.

It would my the first time flying since the pandemic began. When I called to make our reservation, they couldn't find a credit for the old ticket. I gave the date of the flight and explained the circumstances, and was told that COVID credits expired in December.

Fuck #AmericanAirlines with a shovel. We're flying United (so wish us luck) and will never deal with AA again.
