A little wander beside Poole Harbour on the Studland Peninsula this afternoon. Couple of gems in flower: Sand Spurrey, and a tall flowering grass that I think is Townsend's Cord-grass. (I'm assuming these are flowers, but ??)

This was an interesting one. Vervain is supposed to be a plant that likes lime, but this was at , which is mainly heathland. But it was growing next to a path which had lots of loose stone, so that stone may have been brought in from elsewhere, making the soil less acidic.

I think this is Dwarf Gorse. Not completely certain, but it's quite short relative to the heather and is in a part of the country it's known to grow.

The Director and Trustees intend to move the over an hour away from its current location at the heart of Kew.

Separating the herbarium from the gardens, library, and laboratories will cripple the ongoing taxonomic work at a time when we are facing a dire biodiversity crisis.

My favourite of the in the cracks in the paving of my front yard is definitely Fox and Cubs. Most of the plants went to seed ages ago, but there are a few late-flowering ones in a shady corner near the recycling bins.
