This Is Just To Say
by @msjennmo
I have searched
for librarians
as coauthors on
systematic reviews
hoping for
searches to adapt
and cite
for myself
Forgive me
I won't cite
your review without
a librarian coauthor
so rigorous
and so transparent

Hey y'all, ready for another #poem?
This week's choice is 'Spring Storm' by William Carlos Williams (1883–1963), the celebrated American modernist of the imagist school.
You can also spend a minute or two doing a vocabulary exercise I've prepared for you. 🤓 It's all in the latest blog post.

When I'm revising a story and I think "that doesn't make sense" or "what does that have to do with the rest of the book?" or "that defies logic!" or "this scene doesn't follow from that scene" and other such normative traps, I can reach for WCW and be reminded that such hobbles are there to switch off the imagination. The last thing capital wants is for us is to start getting imaginative.
I read "Spring and All" by William Carlos Williams yesterday and started "Descent of Winter" again. These pieces are collected in the volume titled "Imaginations" and they demonstrate a completely free approach to writing that could serve as an exciting model for anyone looking to break out of the strictures of conventional modes and forms.
...There is no light—
Only a honey-thick stain
That drips from leaf to leaf
And limb to limb
Spoiling the colours
Of the whole world.
I am alone.
The weight of love
Has buoyed me up
Till my head
Knocks against the sky.
See me!
My hair is dripping with nectar—
Starlings carry it
On their black wings.
See, at last
My arms and my hands
Are lying idle.
How can I tell
If I shall ever love you again
As I do now?...

I have taken
the easy instructions
for joining Mastodon
that were supposed to
go on the main website
and which
you were probably
planning to send
to your Fox News loving dad
Forgive me
the community has been fun
so sweet
and so lacking
my bullies from high school
so far.
