I am not sure about 2017 - May lost support at least as much as labour gained it. My perception is that in the modern era - from #Wilson on - when labour is being led from the left it loses

Well that is not what polls say - and no #labour leader - not #foot, #kinnock, #milliband or #corbyn - has won from the #left of #labour since 1945 when there are a world war on and returning troops yearned for a new jerusalem

The trouble with a counterfactual assertion like yours is it can neither be proved nor disproved. But it's a fact that #Wilson & #Blair won (3 times each), & #Foot, #Kinnock , #Milliband & #Corbyn all lost

You assert "people" can see nationalisation is in their interest - yet clearly not enough that they voted labour in. And even amongst those who like the idea of nationalisation some proportion - I'd say significant - do not want their taxes to rise to pay for it & voted accordingly
