My first pass on Avebury Stone Circle. In my view a more impressive monument than . An artist friend thought the fleeting clouds contrasted with the permanence of the stones. I’ll take that!

I completed my 16 mile walk across the in 6 hours today. Feeling a bit tired (and sore in places) but given how beautiful the day has been, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Time well spent.

A garden has to stimulate the senses not only when everything is flowering. The “riot border” is already unruly and beautiful. It will be very colourful very soon.
Some plants I deliberately put there, others are self seeded.
Incorporating wildflowers (weeds) in borders is ecologically important but it’s not new or revolutionary.

A bit hard to spot, look at the centre of the photograph: A pheasant investigates my greenhouse. He has been almost permanently living in the garden for several weeks.
I suppose he calls himself wildlife!

The last film I saw here was, I think, the first release of The Jungle Book.

it's been a bingo hall for the last50 years and I'm quite excited to go and watch another movie there

You don't need me to tell you which standing stones these are. They could hardly be more famous and popular, but if you can catch them at a quiet time, on a quiet day, they are always impressive and moving.
When I first saw them, as a child, you could still walk right up to them and clamber around.

@JdeBP or how about Ted Chippenham MP?

Salt of the earth, I would imagine.

If one were still taking PMs from the Lords, perhaps. In modern times, I would think .

Yes ... The Rt Hon Anthony Swindon, MP. Has a much more modern and democratic ring to it than Lord Robert Salisbury.

Internal temperature of my compost heap this morning, after cold nights and much rain, just over 45°C. Happy with this at this stage.
On the surface grass cuttings from a week ago, cuttings from the garden, deadheads and kitchen 'waste', such as vegetable cuttings, peanut shells, egg shells and coffee grounds.

Have you visited 765 year-old Salisbury Cathedral? Seat of the Anglican bishops of Salisbury, it’s not only historic and lovely but also has several distinctions. It’s spire (1320) is the highest church spire in England, it boasts the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain at 80 acres (32 ha), it contains a clock which is among the oldest working examples in the world, and it has one of the four surviving original copies of Magna Carta.
