I started watching Paris, Texas again after many years. #wimwenders great examination of #america and the open #west . I know #samshepard wrote the #screenplay but it feels highly indebted to #bobbylouisehawkins writing. It's a film that stays with you for days after.

Dennis Hopper still seems a deeply eccentric choice to play Tom Ripley but The American Friend is just as gripping on second viewing. Lots of great incidental detail, terrific performance from Bruno Ganz in the lead, similar ’70s murk and shabbiness to the Alec Guinness Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Should be on Mubi for another couple of weeks.
