Drinks diary 3 May 2014: more casual racism overheard, this time at our favourite neighbourhood Iraqi restaurant where we were seated near a large party celebrating a birthday and some boorish dude asked are Iraqis even middle eastern and he pronounced it like "eye-rack". Also he said "these people". Ugh.

Drinks diary 2 May 2014: red wine with pizza at Terra Cotta Pizzeria, then bourbon at Phog Lounge. The good candies are the cello-wrapped caramels even though technically I'm allergic to them. The bad candies are hard and taste like fake fruit.

This stray kitty I call Girlie just showed up here for the first time since November. She's an absolute sweetheart and if the cat situation in our home were less fraught she'd be living with us already. She only comes around when I don't have the car or can't get her to the humane society. When she stopped coming around I hoped she'd been picked up already.

She's clearly being fed though, not just by me.

One thing I love about my town is how everyone is so aggressive and petty and road ragey when driving on Riverside Drive, yet the moment a goose steps off the curb into the road, we all pull up, stop, and wait indulgently until the very last one has safely crossed.
