Saw an enormous (about 16 inches across) Berkley’s Polypore (ID’d by Ruby’s mom) and wondered why it was left, especially so close to the trail!

If you’re also trying to peep it: It’s in the #wissahickon! We found it on a spur from Blue Bell Park to the orange trail right by the steps. Definitely past it’s prime and apparently not a good food. Which is why it’s still there Ruby’s mom thinks.

The #wissahickon trail between the Wissahickon Transportation Center and the Henry Ave bridge is nearly impassable.

I counted six new downed trees and while most had a path around, I had to crouch and drag my bike under a trunk less than 3 feet off the ground.

Grateful to those who worked to cut paths and mark safe places. Furious there was no signage at either entrance to the trail noting these blockers.

I suspect there’s more to it but it seems like the toleration statue in the #wissahickon is just a random Quaker congratulating himself on being so tolerant? Weird flex.

On Friday @Maggie and I got sick of being stuck in the house. So even though the air quality was "unhealthy", >150 AQI, we decided to go for a mental health walk in the #Wissahickon, but with masks on.

We did not encounter any other people wearing masks to defend against the wildfire smoke, although perhaps there were fewer people on the trails than you might expect on what otherwise might have been a nice day.

We showered and laundered our clothes on our return, for decontamination.

If you're looking for a place to park your bicycle on Forbidden Drive, I'm happy to report that there is a bike rack at the Valley Green Inn (perhaps unsurprisingly).

More bike racks with better design would be better, but it's a start!
