I usually spin way too thin and I wanted to try to produce a thick and textured yarn. So I fitted the jumbo flyer to the Kromski traveller and had a go with the batt I made with the not-so-good fleece from Panda one of our Shetland Sheep. I found it hard to spin thick, but I'm pleased with the result so will try some more.

I found this amazing book in the 2nd-hand bookshop at Aberglasney Gardens and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. A big 'diolch' to whoever it was who donated it.

I bought it for the practical hints about spinning and wool preparation, but became fascinated by the social history of spinning. Now I want to find out more.....

Shwmae Romi, I'm new today too! I have been knitting since I was a child - mainly handknitting. I also do machine knitting. We started keeping Shetland Sheep this year so I am also learning to spin. I look forward to reading your posts. . We have a holiday let on the smallholding and love welcoming people to this beautiful part of Wales.
