This is unsustainable. Many lives will be lost I fear.

There's a shortage of workers in the UK.

People are short of money.

It goes without saying that some of those people won't have jobs at present, so why aren't they being taken on to do these jobs?

1) The people don't want the jobs as they don't pay enough, or,
2) The employers don't want the people that are available because they don't have the necessary skills or experience.

Thus we have stalemate.
